Hurling News and Information - from an American Perspective

Antrim

Antrim

Overview: When it comes to hurling, Antrim is the only county that represents Ulster in the All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship. And while Antrim is always the favorite to win the Ulster Senior Hurling Championship, they have never held the Liam McCarthy Cup.

GAA involvement in Ulster has been controversial for a long time; this past year GAA management moved Antrim and Galway into the Leinster regional championship, effectively ending Ulster representation in the Senior Championship. And while Gerry Adams' son was once a star player for the team, being located in part of the battleground for “the troubles” has not done much to help the squad.

Rivals: The only rivals worth mentioning would be other Ulster teams, however with the aforementioned merge to the Leinster championship, those rivalries aren’t worth mentioning these days.
