Tipperary
Overview: Tipperary is a team of great tradition. They are one of the “Big Three” of the sport (along with Kilkenny and Cork) and have won twenty-five All-Ireland titles. The Tipperary teams of the 1960s were considered some of the best hurling squads of all time, although they have only won four titles since then. Still, it’s rivalries with Kilkenny and Cork are some of the best in the sport and the team is always a perennial power in the county and All-Ireland tournaments.

American Comparison: Montreal Canadiens. A rural team with a dynasty in a peculiar stick-based sport.

Rivals: Kilkenny is their main rival, as they have faced off in many memorable matches over the years. There is also a strong provincial rivalry with Cork, with fifty-five championship titles between them to date. Tipperary also has lesser rivalries with Clare and Cork.

Notable Players: Eoin Kelly. A five-time All Star, Kelly was selected for inter-county duty early and has won two Munster titles and one All-Ireland during his time playing for Tipperary. Kelly has scored over 200 championship points and holds the record of Tipperary’s top-championship scorer.
